The Spine

Ten attributes
no machine can master.

These are the ten modules the Consortium has taught since 2012. Each one is now re-examined for what artificial intelligence changes about it — and, more importantly, for what it cannot touch.

Attribute 1

Leadership DNA

Who you are before you are anything else: self-awareness, values, and the code other people read in you.

AI can rank high-potentials; it cannot lift anyone’s expectations.

Attribute 2

Integrity

The infrastructure every other attribute stands on — now with jurisdiction over machines that make promises in your name.

AI can pass a compliance check; it cannot keep a promise.

Attribute 3

Charisma

Presence, story, and the candid conversation. Influence at scale, without formal authority.

AI can draft the speech; it cannot stand behind it.

Attribute 4

Vision

Where the organization is going, stated clearly enough that people can act on it without being told twice.

AI can extend every trend; it cannot choose a destination.

Attribute 5

Globality

Reading the world’s scoreboard and leading across cultural, national and regulatory boundaries.

AI can translate the language; it cannot earn the trust of the room.

Attribute 6

Creating Value

Economic literacy: where wealth comes from, how value is built, and how it is measured.

AI can price everything; it cannot decide what your community needs built.

Attribute 7

Execution

Priorities, follow-through, and delivering through other people rather than around them.

AI can run the workflow; it cannot own the outcome.

Attribute 8

Dealing with Uncertainty

Acting without full clarity. Managing risk, seizing disguised opportunity, and never betting the firm.

AI can compute the risk. It cannot take the risk.

Attribute 9

Thriving on Change

Adaptability as a personal operating system, and leading transformation while renewing yourself inside it.

AI can retrain overnight; your people cannot.

Attribute 10

Taking Charge

What the first ninety days actually require — and what a new chair inherits that no one lists.

AI can compress your learning curve; it cannot earn you the room.

The Thread

AI fluency is not an eleventh attribute.

It runs through all ten. At every attribute we ask the same two questions: what does artificial intelligence change here, and what remains squarely human? Each attribute carries its own human–machine exercise, so fluency is practiced rather than described.

To be AI fluent is to know what these systems are, where they fail, what to ask of them, and when to overrule them.

Where This Comes From

Ten modules taught since 2012
A Ph.D. facilitator and a sitting executive in every module
Harvard Business School and Ivey case studies
Documented in BE A LEADER 3.0

Build the capabilities machines cannot master.

Every engagement is scoped to the organization in front of us. Tell us who you are developing and what has to change, and we will tell you what the work looks like.
